Sometimes the VM fails to power ON, there may be issues with the VMDK file, you can use the below steps to check and repair the VMDK file.
- Log in to the ESXi console using Putty.
- Go to the folder where your VM is located.
- Run the below command to check if the .vmdk is corrupted.
- vmkfstools -–fix check disk-001.vmdk
- If your disk requires repairing, run the below command.
- vmkfstools –-fix repair disk-001.vmdk
- Create a new disk image from the old one to avoid further issues.
- vmkfstools -i disk-001.vmdk disk-new-001.vmdk
- Add the new disk-new-001.vmdk to the VM.
